5 of 5 Perfect Solution Friday, October 24, 2008 DP from Burbank, CA
Why it took me so long to switch away from inkjet, I will never know. It may have been the cost, but with this price, I am glad I finally made the decision to go to Laser. It has performed flawlessly in our home office. After, coming back from a 1 month trip, I printed out documents easily without having to clean the heads or worrying theat the heads would be clogged. I really like the 2 sided print option. And the quietness of the printer. Definitely the right choice. I should also add that I use it wirelessly with 3 computers, and that it is very Mac compatible. 5 of 5 Works great with Vista Tuesday, October 21, 2008 Rodney from Phoenix, AZ
Used MFC 9700 for years with good luck, but would not function well with Vista. Upgraded to the MFC 7820N and it has been great from installation, to setup and user friendly. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great AIO Monday, September 15, 2008 A Customer from houston, TX
Works fine, at least for me.
Someone complains that "network scan is a joke" on Amazon. I think it works.
Sometimes, people are smart enough to write a review but not smart enough to use the machine. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent Network Printer Monday, September 08, 2008 robrocklin from Denver, CO
I have WIN2000 and my wife has VISTA. I plugged the printer into the WIFI router and phone line, loaded the included software, and immediately printed from both computers. Printer/scanner has character recognition software and it worked great. I don't know how this could have worked any easier. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent Network Printer Wednesday, August 27, 2008 A Customer from Fairmont Wv
Bought this printer for a home network. The price couldn't be beat, and I wanted scanner/copier/printer all on my network. Setup was wonderfully simple.... Plugged network cable into router, installed drivers, ran through setup on printer, and was up and running. Fast, sharp printing! Love it. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Network Printer for a Small Business Friday, August 22, 2008 KY from Fairfield,NJ
It is a great printer for the price. This is one of our backup printers on the network. Works great.
Initially , i had to call Brother from some support to make it a network printer. Brother's support is A++++.
very pleased so far with the performance of the machine.
I'll recommend anyone to try this.

I hooked this up to my router and use it as a printer/scanner/fax for all of my home/small business network computers. Setup was extremely easy. I assigned a static IP address with no problem (unlike a previous poster). The software automatically found the printer on setup unlike my other network printer. Very nice!
I was also very pleasantly surprised at how well the scanner works over the network.
First page printout is extremely fast. Rouglhly 5-6 seconds from startup to 1st page out.
It does have slight curling to paper as others have noted. But, paper flattens out later. Not really a big deal.
Only adding color and duplexing could make it any better. But, then, it would cost twice the price!
I highly recommend it. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Brother MFC-7820N Sunday, August 17, 2008 A Customer from Tucson, AZ
Great print quality, with easy to use fax and copy capability. For the price, this machine is a real bargain. The only issue I have is that getting it setup on my network using Vista was not easy. The network manual was on disk; however, if you are installing the printer and have no print capability, you must read the manual using your monitor. This issue may have been more a Vista problem than a MFC-7820N problem. It took me two days to get the machine working properly on my network. Strange, I would get it installed, pass the print test, and the next day the printer needed to be reinstalled. Finally, I used the network IP address for the MFC-7820N to fix the problem. 5 of 5 More of the same and then some Wednesday, July 16, 2008 A Customer from buffalo, ny
Our store has moved to all Brother printers using the same toner and drum to help keep supplies in stock from over-running the place.
The 2040s came first, then the multifunction copier and a fax.
Now we got this unit and it continues to show how smart we are.
All the units have good, fast output with usability even the boss can figure out.
With the networking built-in, everyone can send faxes from their own station and use the printer as a backup.
Everyone is very pleased to have this printer available. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great printer Tuesday, July 08, 2008 A Customer from Lees Summit Missouri
I have had the MFC 7820N printer for a couple of weeks now and it is performing very well. The printer is setup as a network printer and we can now print from both our PC's. The install was very easy and it configured everything by itself. The only thing I noticed is the paper comes out a little curled, but that is not a big deal for me. The auto sheet feeder is great for making copies, and the print quality is excellent. For the price, you can't go wrong with this printer. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Just like the fries at Arby's Monday, July 07, 2008 A Customer from cincinnati, oh
We've had for a few weeks in our home office - no problems or issues except the curling of the paper after printing. A minor issue and I'm not complaining as this was well documented by earlier reviewers.
We don't have any need for fax, so I can't comment on that functionality, but otherwise we love this machine. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Superb value! Price -vs- performance winner! Monday, July 07, 2008 Mschlem from Fishers, IN
I researched a lot before buying this all-in-one. Realizing that I was shooting toward the budget end of the scale, I wanted to make sure that I was getting the very best machine for my money and I'm happy to report I did just that.
The laser printer is phenomenal - fast, high quality printing. Same goes for the copier function which I've already used a lot more than I thought I would. So far I have only sent a fax (which worked flawlessly), but have not received one yet. But, the fax is on our main home phone line and does not interfere with receiving calls. I also have not used the scanner yet, but it uses the same Paper Port software that my old scanner uses, so I'm sure it will be great.
The only drawbacks I've noticed so far are the noise - It is a little loud during printing, but otherwise it's silent. Not really a huge issue to me. Secondly, the paper curls just a little bit after printing, but it could also be due to the quality of paper I'm using. Again, not a huge issue to me. Lastly it doesn't handle envelope printing very well. The envelopes come out crinkled, or the printing is skewed. Again, not a deal breaker for me, because I can just print envelopes on my inkjet which does a decent job.
Overall I think this is an excellent value for a budget all-in-one laser unit. The benefits outweigh the drawbacks and I would whole-heartily recommend this unit for anyone needing all the functionality and speed at a reasonable price. The deal from Buy.com was best by a mile and shipped free also! Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Very nice, am 95% satisfied except for use with iM Sunday, July 06, 2008 Stuart J. from Birmingham, AL
All of the software was easy to install and relatively easy to use EXCEPT for with my new 20" Mac. The instructions advised to not use the included software with Leopard (10.5.X), but directed me to a web site that was of little or no use. Luckily, if you download and install the current Mac Twain drivers you are 95% done. One other thing - this (at least mine was) made in early January of 2008 and the OCR software offered does NOT work with Leopard. You can purchase an update from the original vendor of that package (Presto Page Manager) if you wish. I chose to go with ReadIRIS Pro as I had previous experience with it. The unit worked extremely well with the 2 Windows XP computers I set up to use it. I have not tested the OCR on the PC's yet. Brother online support for Mac is excellent! Was this review helpful?

I am totally pleased with this printer. Except for some initial difficulties assigning it a static IP address, it's been great. The issue with paper curlin |
